Hoje falaremos de uma coisa legal que é São Franscisco. Falamos coma tutora SJ do
Cambly, que nos ajudou um pouco a conhecer São Fransciso. O que tem de bom lá, o que
você pode faze lá e como é morar em São Francisco/What is it like living in San Francisco?

M: Let it begin.
Teacher Ca: Hi, how are you?
SJ: First of all, my name is SJ. I’m actually born and raised in San Francisco, California.
Teacher Ca: What is it like living in San Francisco?
SJ: There’s a lot. Numer one things is diversity of people. I’ve been all around the world,
but I chose living here. Because, of course, you hear English but also all sorts of languages
too. I feel like I met people from South America, Africa, Saudi Arabia, China, Asia. Diversity
is so amazing because here you won’t just see white American. It’s full of diversity. That is
the number that I like about my city.
Teacher Ca: Uma coisa que a SJ disse é que ela nasceu e foi criada em São Francisco e a
coisa N° 1 que ela gosta de lá é a diversidade. A diversidade que existe entre pessoas lá,
pessoas de todos os lugares que influenciam na cultura deles. Então a diversidade é a coisa
que ela mais gosta de lá/number one.
Teacher Ca: I’ve heard that people are really funny in San Franscisco.
SJ: Yes, I think we are because I think, first of all, our weather is amazing, we have
mediterranean weather we’re all year-round almost 12 degrees Celsius. The cold is in the
winter maybe 9°C to 4°C degress but in the summer the hottest I’ve experienced was
23°Cto 26°C degrees. But the normal is 12°C degress. So you have the sun shining and
everything. The beach five minutes away. Any side you go you can have a beach right
there.
Teacher Ca: Elas disse que as pessoas são funny/engraçadas ou divertidas porque o clima
lá é muito bom, é muito favorável. Que gira em torno de 12°C. No verão, o máximo que ela
experimentou foi de 23-26 graus. Então não é um verão escaldante, aquela coisa muito
quente. Então fica um clima gostoso. Então as praias ficam a cada 5 minutos de qualquer
lugar que você esteja. Então ela disse que é um lugar bom por conta disso. Porque as
pessoas são divertidas e o clima é agradável demais.
SJ: California, generally San Francisco there are many things to do. There’re places you can
go which is beautiful, peaceful and quiet. There’s beautiful views everywhere. If you want
go out at night, there’s a lot of nightlife. If you go up north there’s Napa Valley, you can go
snowboarding on snow, you can go down on LA. You have so many resorts. You probably
know Disneyland, everything all around. So it’s a really nice state I recommend for
everybody.
Teacher Ca: Ela disse que Califórnia é um estado com muitas coisas a se fazer, se você for
ao norte você pode fazer snowboarding, praticar snowboarding, você pode ir para vários
“resorts”. Pode também ir para a Disneyland. Você tem vários lugares maravilhosos para
visitar. Você tem as praias. Então poderá visitar muitos lugres legais. E ela falou que
recomenda.
Teacher Ca: What bout the food there? Is it good?
SJ: Yes, like the diversity of people. You’re gonna get bored with the food because you
wanna try everything from every culture, I think we have it. All around the corner. I don’t
even know. I tried Thai for the first time, the food from a Brazilian steakhouse. I didn’t
even know we had it. If you wanna Chinese, there is Chinese food, Hawaiian food, there’s
Japanese. It’s like the people. There’s some much selection of food everywhere.
Teacher Ca: Eu perguntei sobre a food/comida. Se eles tinham algum prato específico
deles e ela falou que por ser um lugar cheio de culturas diferentes, as comidas também são
diversas, variadas de culturas diferentes. Por exemplo, tem a comida Chinesa, Italiana,
Brasileira. Tem Steakhouse/churrascaria, tem de tudo lá em qualquer esquina/any corners.
Eles podem comer bem em qualquer lugar.
Teacher Ca: Do you have any especial like real food or no, like seafood and those things?
SJ: I would say two things about San Francisco. The first thing is the Burger of In-N-Out. I
don’t know if you guys know In-N-Out but it’s a burger you have to try. I think it’s only in
California honestly.
Teacher Ca: What is the name of it?
SJ: In-N-Out.
Teacher Ca: Can you type it?
SJ: In-N-Out burger. That’s something I recommend to eat. Very fresh burger. What’s
unique about this fast-food is that you go in there you actually see people smashing the
meat, actually cutting the fries. Everything’s fresh. Not like McDonald’s where everything is
frozen. So that is one thing that I recommend you to try.
Teacher Ca: Ela falou também que há o In-N-Out restaurant. Um lugar que els fazer um
hambúrgeres maravilhosos. Ela falou que todos que foram para a California tem que
comer esse “burger there”. Porque é feito lá. É um fast-food diferente onde você vê as
pessoas amassando a carne, o pãp, cortando a babata. Então é uma coisa bem legal, In-N-
Out.
SJ: And the other thing is Clam Chowder. I think San Francisco is known for Clam Chowder
especially in the bread bowl. It’s literally a bread that is shaped like a bowl, and they put
Clam Chowder inside and you eat it and it’s supposed to soak up in the bread after you
finish the soup part. So you literally eat the bread. That’s the two things you have to try in
San Francisco.
Teacher Ca: Ela falou também que uma comida muito típica deles é o Clam Clowder que é
uma sopa de mariscos que eles servem no pão e eles comem no Bodean, um restaurante
que ela indicou. Ela falou que vale a pena conhecer e que é bem característico deles lá.
Teacher Ca: : Is there any other things you would like to say about San Francisco?
SJ: Well, I think is safety. Safety in San Francisco since I was in high school, maybe with 15-
16 years old, I’ve been working around downtown because we have Fisherman’s Wharf,
we have so many views in downtown and literally, I can be outside, walk around with my
cellphone and not be bothered. But just one thing that I know people can be a lot shocked
about San Francisco regarding to the American is there can be some homeless people.
There’s a lot of homeless people. Not so much to be bothered but it’s something I want
people to know. So they can know what to expect when they come here.But they’re
harmless.
Teacher Ca: Ok, great. Eu perguntei se existia algo mais de São Francisco que ela poderia
falar pra gente e ela disse que com relação a segurança você não precisa se preocupar. Ela
mesma anda na rua com o celular na mão e não nenhum problema com relação a isso. A
segurança é boa lá.
SJ: I really want to excuse my voice because I really came from a sore throat. But I’m ok.
